The government did very well in
Queensland in 2001, getting 55 percent of the
two party preferred vote and 75 percent of the seats.
But then Queensland rarely returns two party
preferred ALP majorities; the last two times
were 1990 and 1961.
Queensland was redistributed during the current
term, gaining a seat, which went straight onto Coalition's
majority.
Bonner (1.9) is the
new electorate; Bowman (3.1) was won by Labor
at last election but is now notionally Liberal.
